This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Oakland is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Oakland is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

super healthy and quick casual restaurant after a long day in the winery estates. the fried tofu set was delicious, and the banchan went very well. loved the umami seaweed seasoning on the acorn noodles, they were bouncy in texture. red makgeolli paired well too!

I recently picked up a lunch order from Joodooboo in North Oakland, and the entire experience was fantastic from start to finish. I placed my order online a few days in advance, which was incredibly easy and stress-free. When I arrived, the pickup took literally seconds, and finding free, easy street parking right around the corner made the quick stop completely hassle-free. The clerk at the counter was also incredibly friendly and efficient. There was a lovely neighborhood energy outside, with plenty of people enjoying their meals at the outdoor sidewalk tables, and it was bustling inside as well. Everything was carefully packaged for the ride home, keeping all the hot and cold components perfectly fresh and separated. The meal itself is beautifully put together and highlights just how fresh and high-quality their ingredients are. The creamy tofu is exceptionalβ€”it has a delicate, crispy exterior with absolutely no oiliness, breaking away to a perfectly soft, velvety center. The seasonal banchan sides offer wonderful, clean flavors that bring a perfect balance of color and taste to the plate. It is an incredibly satisfying, complete meal that comes with the main tofu, a beautiful

It has been on my want to go list for a while, and I finally had the chance to check it out. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere, but the food presentation feels very thoughtful and artful. I ordered the Nori Acorn Noodle Bowl and also tried the Fried Dooboo Set. I liked the acorn noodle bowl more; the chilled noodles, nori vinaigrette, kimchi, and pickled mushrooms made it super refreshing and flavorful. Their house tofu was silky, delicate, and packed with fresh soy flavor. It's a must-try. Portions are on the lighter side for the price. The only downside was the ordering system. We came on a busy Saturday evening, and having everyone order before being seated made the front area crowded and a little chaotic. Seating was limited.

I wish I lived closer, I'd be here all the time. Beautiful, fresh ingredients - incredible, well-balanced flavor. You can tell that each dish is put together with great care. Seek this one out.

Came for a pop-up menu they had with Bazaar Sonoma, and all the food was great. Regarding the Joodooboo items, the tofu quality is superb, really loved their dessert, super silky tofu with a brown butter syrup and granola, perfect level of sweetness and playful textures. Variety of food and drinks are great and everything is on theme and authentic. Definetely will stop by again if Im in the area and if you want to buy tofu, this is the place to buy it for sure.
